La International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA), de la que formamos parte algunos integrantes del equipo de BSOSpirit, acaba de hacer públicas las nominaciones a sus premios anuales, correspondientes a bandas sonoras de películas estrenadas en 2017.

Como buen regalo de cumpleaños, John Williams acapara seis nominaciones, tres por sus partituras de ese año –Star Wars: The Last Jedi y The Post– y otras tres por reediciones de algunos de sus trabajos clásicos. Le sigue Michael Giacchino, con cinco candidaturas, y Alexandre Desplat y Daniel Pemberton, con cuatro cada uno. Completa el quinteto de nominados a Compositor del año Benjamin Wallfisch.

Las partituras nominadas a Score del Año, además de las dos citadas de John Williams, son Phantom Thread, de Jonny Greenwood; The Shape of Water, de Alexandre Desplat; y War for the Planet of the Apes, de Michael Giacchino.

En cuanto a lo que nos toca de cerca, tenemos a cuatro compositores españoles o que trabajan en nuestro país entre la extensa lista de nominados. Alejandro Vivas opta al premio a Compositor Revelación, especialmente por la acogida que ha tenido El jugador de Ajedrez. Federico Jusid es candidato al premio a Mejor Score para Televisión por Tiempos de guerra. El reciente ganador del Goya Pascal Gaigne aspira a un premio de la IFMCA, pero no por Handia, sino por Plan de fuga en la categoría de Mejor Score para Película de Acción, Aventura o Thriller.
